The United Cup is a prestigious mixed-teams tennis tournament for 18 competing countries hosted in Perth’s RAC Arena and Sydney’s Ken Rosewall Arena from 29 December to 7 January 23-24, the peak of Australia’s long, hot summer holidays.
Trielle were engaged by IVE Group to project manage and provide installation crew for event branding in both Perth and Sydney. With a party atmosphere, enthusiastic crowds and men’s, women’s and mixed doubles matches, there’s a lot going on.
Hosting a major tennis tournament over the Christmas holidays means you get maximum crowds, but it also means there’s a Christmas rush on just about everything you need. From freight delays to severe crew shortages, the challenge was pulling off a seamless event with compromised resources.
Finding a way to make things work with what we had, we drew on our hard-working team and our reliable and dedicated staff stepped up to help out. Mindful that everyone had their own Christmas to celebrate, we incentivised staff, staggered crews, changed work schedules and increased freelance labour. Both events went smoothly and to plan and everyone got the break they needed.
